The guest speaker for this meeting was Bruce Auth, President of New Vision Communications Inc., a full service telecommunications provider. New Visions started in Omaha 45 years ago (very pre-divestiture) and has expanded to Lincoln and Des Moines. They provide services for small systems through large call centers, network design and implementation, videoconferencing and server through desktop engineering. Mr. Auth will present Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) starting with an overview of the technology. He will discuss current types of business applications that are suitable for VoIP. Although the technology is very recent, there are best practices to follow regarding design, installation and use of VoIP. Mr. Auth will review these concepts and also comment on future industry trends.
