By merging the City of Omaha and Douglas County Information Services departments, DOT.Comm is underway in its efforts to streamline technology throughout the City and County, resulting in better, more cost-effective services to the taxpayer.
As a result, several initiatives are in process. Those include:
- Web Services
- Infrastructure Consolidation
- Network Infrastructure support
The mission of Douglas-Omaha Technology Commission (DOT.Comm) is to provide ongoing innovative technological solutions and services in the most cost efficient and effective manner possible for all customers. Some examples of the technology solutions were the two RFPs that closed December 3, 2003:
- A Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) Service Desk and Asset Management
Applications, and,
- a pilot project to demonstrate electronic recording capabilities for
the Douglas County Register of Deeds and Clerk offices, and document
submitters from private businesses.
Interesting to note for web programmers - the RFP page was coded in PHP.
