The speaker for this meeting was Steve Nugen, founder and CTO of NugenSoft - www.nugensoft.com. NuGenSoft provides custom software applications using intelligent solutions. Intelligent technologies evolve in response to stress... adapting as needed with little or no human intervention. NuGenSoft products and services use AI (Artificial Intelligence) techniques to develop adaptive tools which include uses for information security purposes.
Mr. Nugen provided an overview of satellite communications. Although this is a technical-track presentation, the speaker made the subject matter accessible to our broad ITC community. Topics included:
- Motivation for satellite communications
- Vocabulary (bandwidth versus latency, etc.)
- Impact of orbit type on coverage and performance
- Special challenges (TCP, HTTP, security)
